iMapp Bucharest is one of the most spectacular digital art projects in Bucharest, born from the desire to bring New Media art to public space and transform the city's architecture into a stage for imagination, light and technology. Over the course of its 10 editions, the festival has brought international artists and teams to Bucharest, transforming the approximately 23,000 sq m facade of the Palace of Parliament into a monumental canvas for video mapping creations. In 2026, iMapp Bucharest reaches its 11th edition, continuing to be a cultural landmark of Bucharest and an international platform for digital art.
In 2020, iMapp Bucharest launched the international solidarity campaign “One World. One Heart.” and was declared the winner of the “AV IN ACTION” category at the AV AWARDS in London – the famous international competition that recognizes and rewards excellence in the entire audiovisual industry, organized by AV Magazine from UK (magazine that dominates the audiovisual publishing sector for over 40 years). The contest was previously nominated in AV Awards in 2016, for Live Event of the Year. In 2023, as part of Enlightenment – a campaign for peace, initiated by Borealis – a festival of light and Maxin10sity and created by 35 projection artists, alongside 75 other international cities who have hosted it, iMapp Bucharest has won a Telly Award.

iMapp Bucharest 2020 Online Festival -Urban Art Exhibition in Motion and Video projections on the façades of 3 buildings located in the heart of the city
iMapp Bucharest, organized every year during the event “Bucharest Days” – on the occasion of the city’s celebration, has won many fans in the Capital, in the country and around the world. This year, the festival will take place in a special format, which takes into account the need for physical distance and the safety of citizens.

The theme of the 6th edition of iMapp Bucharest marked the fact that the competition became the Winners League of the Video Mapping World, connecting by this some of the most important festivals, artists and specialists worldwide, making at the same time a reference to the 30th Anniversary of the World Wide Web (WWW) and the limitless possibilities – including the borderless cooperation and communication – it brought into our life.
Bucharest City Hall, through Creart – organized on Saturday, 22nd of September 2018, in Constituției Square, the 5th edition of iMapp Bucharest – one of the biggest 3D video mapping shows in the world.
For the first time in the history of the festival, 10 international teams have been chosen to participate at iMapp Bucharest 2018: Sila Sveta from Russia, Go2 Productions from Canada, LosRomeras and OTUCINEMA from Spain, NullPixel from Mexico, SKG Media from China, United Motion Labs from Austria, Mindscape Studio from Romania, OCUBO from Portugal, ArtZebs from Ukraine, and Vision Impossible from Netherlands.

Gong Zhen, a mapping art designer coming from Shanghai, China. The leader of a mapping art design company : SKGMEDIA. In last 5 years, he finished about 20 mapping works independently, included building mapping, car mapping, sculpture mapping, interactive mapping and other more formats. In Sep. 2016, his work ‘Times’ won the second place in Moscow Light festival (Classic Group). Besides, Gong Zhen is also a mapping teacher and mapping exhibition planner.
More than 40.000 people at iMapp Bucharest 2016
iMapp Bucharest stands for video projections on the second largest administrative building in the world, more than 104 projectors used, 23.000 square meters of projection surface, over 2.000.000 ANSI lumens and one huge stage. Each year, in September, the best video artists in the world showcase their work on the façade of the Palace of Parliament, in front of a large audience.
More than 65.000 people came to see the video-mapping shows and danced all evening, on the opening grooves from renowned artists, Parov Stelar and Șuie Paparude.
2015 meant the second edition of iMapp Bucharest. The festival’s theme was “The Elements”. The concept referred to the fact that the shows can use combinations of any number of elements. They could have been abstract or figurative, realistic or symbolic, a dynamic mixture or just one element.

iMapp Bucharest 2026. PAST. FORWARD.
Born from the desire to bring New Media art into the public space, iMapp Bucharest has become an international platform for video mapping and new media technologies. Through the Winners League format, the event brings to Bucharest artists and teams selected by some of the world’s most important festivals in the field. The theme of the 2026 edition, PAST. FORWARD., explores the dialogue between past and future through memory, heritage, technology, and imagination. The seven works in the competition offer different perspectives on time and memory, while the Palace of Parliament becomes an integral part of the narrative of each creation.

Seven international artists in the iMapp Bucharest 2026 competition
Over the two days, the iMapp Bucharest 2026 programme brings together video mapping shows, music, entertainment, and outdoor experiences, with the international Winners League competition at its core. Seven international artists and studios, winners of competitions organized by the seven partner festivals from Hungary, Japan, Germany, France, China, the USA, and Brazil, will compete for the iMapp Bucharest 2026 Grand Prize. An international jury will award the Jury Prize, while the audience will be able to vote for their favourite work via SMS at the standard rate by texting 1755, determining the winner of the Audience Award.
A special moment dedicated to Nadia Comăneci
This year’s edition of iMapp Bucharest marks 50 years since Nadia Comăneci’s historic performance at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, with a special video mapping moment dedicated to the gymnast and her impact on world sport.
iMapp Bucharest: 11 editions of digital art in public space
Over the course of its 10 editions, iMapp Bucharest has contributed to strengthening Bucharest’s position on the international digital art map, transforming the Palace of Parliament into a space for contemporary creation and audiovisual experiences freely accessible to the public. The project’s relevance was recognized in 2026 with the Silver Trophy in the “Art Event” category at the Eventex Awards, for the edition dedicated to Constantin Brâncuși and George Enescu.
Through the Winners League concept, iMapp Bucharest brings together artists who have been named winners of international competitions in the field, creating a space where artistic perspectives and cultural scenes from around the world can meet.
